Its membership comprised of survivors of abuse and survivor agencies, representatives from statutory and voluntary sectors with a responsibility or interest in survivor issues and Scottish Government officials.
The group met quarterly to discuss all aspects of the Strategy and the Time to be Heard pilot forum for survivors of in care abuse.
Sub groups were set up tp focus on issues identified as requiring more development outwith the group. There included:
- In Care Abuse
- Care Pathways
- Male Survivors
- Training and Awareness Raising
The Reference Group meetings also provided an opportunity for input from other agencies and individuals with an interest in this area. Presentations included:
- Personal accounts from survivors
- Children's Reporter
- Barkers Social Marketing
- Scottish Human Rights Commission
The National Strategy for Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse is managed from within the Adult Care & Support Division which is part of the Health & Social Integration Directorate of the Scottish Government. The SurvivorScotland team has responsibility to continue the implementation of the Strategy.
We will continue to consult with the members of the group, survivors and other stakeholders and ensure they are kept up to date.
