Counselling and Psychotherapy Service Provision for Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse: A Scoping Exercise for Statutory and Voluntary Sector Services in Scotland

Wednesday 24th August 2011

Male Survivors is one of the priority areas for funding by the National Strategy. SurvivorScotland agreed that work should be commissioned to scope what services there are for male survivors across Scotland in both voluntary and statutory sectors to provide an accurate a picture as possible of what was currently available. Health in Mind was funded to undertake this task. The main outcome of this important exercise is to enable us to promote and increase awareness of the prevalence and effects of male childhood sexual abuse and their needs to health and social practitioners and wider society. The National Reference Group and the SurvivorScotland Team will consider the findings of the Report and discuss with our relevant stakeholders ways forward to ensure the needs of male survivors are considered and responded to positively
