SCRA meets with SurvivorScotland [PDF 17.17k]

SCRA recently met with representatives from SurvivorScotland.

It has been agreed that information on the Children's Hearing System will be placed on the SurvivorScotland website so that other people who might be in a similar situation to the victim, whose story is told in the attached article, are aware of the procedures to protect children who might be at risk of abuse.

SCRA is supportive of SurvivorScotland and has provided information posters and a link to the SurvivorScotland which is available via SCRA's website.

Authority Reporter SCRA, Chris Docherty also spoke to the SurvivorScotland national reference group in August 2009 about the work of the Reporter within the Children's Hearing System.

Pilot Acknowledgement and Accountability Forum 2010

In 2008 Ministers announced their commitment to scoping possibilities for a forum to give adult survivors who were abused as children in care the chance to speak about their experiences and to help them come to terms with the past. The many people who responded to our Consultation Paper on the forum approach overwhelmingly wanted to see the establishment of a pilot forum to test out whether this approach would work. Therefore, Scottish Ministers have confirmed that a pilot Acknowledgement and Accountability Forum for adult survivors of in care abuse as children is to go ahead in the Spring of 2010.

The final shape and timing of the Pilot Forum is still under discussion and we will make all further information available on the website in due course. Before the pilot starts we will run a number of information sessions for individuals and groups with an interest in the work of the Pilot Forum.
